Ida lived with her parents until 1914. The years 1908 to 1915 were spent teaching school in the public schools of Richland Township, Allen County,Ohio, and in acquiring a college education. She received the degree of
Bachelor of Arts from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana. Following her graduation from college she entered a medical career. After two years of medical work in the College of Medicine, University of Illinois, she was granted the degree of Bachelor of Science, and upon completion of a four
years medical course, in 1919, she received the degree of doctor of Medicine. Following her graduation, Dr. Ida became assistant to her brother Dr. H. W. Eby, Goshen, Indiana, in the specialty of Diseases of Eye, Ear,
Nose, and Throat. After 11 years practice as assistant she entered the Chicago Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat College, Chicago, Illinois, for a post-graduate course. In 1931 she opened up an office at Plymouth, Indiana, and continued the practice of her specialty there until February, 1939,
when she took over the office of her brother at Goshen, Indiana, Who retired from practice at that time.
Dr. Eby is a member of the Indiana Academy of Onthalology and Otolaryngology, Michiana Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Club; Elkhart County, Indiana State, and American Medical Assns.; member of the Indiana State, Nat'l and International Federations of Business and Professional Women's Clubs.
