Dollie Mae Hord Killed, Twin Sister Injured In Auto Wreck
Dollie Mae Hord, 15 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hord, was killed and her twin sister, Margaret Lois Hord, is in a serious condition at the Baute Infirmary at Lebanon, as the result of an auto wreck which occurred last Friday night about 9:30 o'clock near New Market on the Campbellsville-Lebanon Highway. The Hord twins and Martha Finn, a girl companion, were riding in an auto driven by Robert Moss of the Bengal section. They were returning from the Lebanon Skating Rink when the wreck occurred, at the first curve this side of New Market. The car failed to make the curve and overturned. Dollie Mae was pinned under the wreckage and died before the car could be removed. Others in the wreck were powerless to remove the car from her. Death was attributed to an internal hemorrhage. Her twin sister, Margaret Lois, was taken to the Lebanon Hospital, suffering from deep cuts on her upper leg and numerous cuts and bruises. Barring complications, she is expected to recover and her condition at this time is some improved. Young Moss suffered only slight injuries and returned home Friday night. Miss Finn is confined to her room, but her injuries while painful are not thought to be serious. The car was badly damaged, rolling over an embankment at the left side of the road. The auto, a Chevrolet sedan, belonging to Robert Moss' father, Gwinn Moss. Funeral services were held at the Campbellsville Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Dollie Mae Hord. Rev. J. L. Robinson, assisted by Rev. T. S. Curry, conducted the services and burial was in Brookside Cemetery. She was a native of this city and was born on November 8, 1923. Besides her parents, she is survived by her twin sister: Miss Margaret Lois Hord; four other sisters: Helen Barnes, Frances Manly, Anna Peyton and Inette Hord, all of this city. She made a profession of faith about two years ago and united with the Baptist church in this city, and was a constant attendant at the church and Sunday School. She was a member of the Sophomore Class at Campbellsville High School and was very popular with her schoolmates. Pallbearers were: Edward Earl Payne, Kenneth Childers, Milton Bailey, James Graves, Edward Capps, Robert Hill Woodrum. Honorary pallbearers were: Luther Durham, Johnny Burkholder, Abe Newton, Philip Bertram, Albert Smith, Clarice A. Cook. The flower girls were taken from her Sunday School class.
