Notes |
- 1861 Census Canada West, Waterloo as Reuben EBY
1871 Census Woolwich, Waterloo North, Ontario as Ruben EBY
- From Scott Buschlen 04/2009
1- all of their children were born in Wellington Co, not Waterloo Co as M/A would like to have it.
this I confirmed mostly by birth records. this also makes sense, as the family lived in Wellington Co as per the 1901 census
2 - first child Angus. I couldn't find his birth record, but his marriage record says he was born in Wellington.
note that his marriage took place in Waterloo Co., Ontario, not Saskatchewan
3 - Luella, marriage to Oliver Lichty was on Mar 30 1910 Wellington Co., not 1909. Her death record is dated July 20 1911 Wellington Co.
4 - Johanna, marriage to the same Oliver Lichty was on Nov 20 1912 in Wellington Co
5 - Is Reuben spelled Reuben or Rueben? his grave marker: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=17819668&
- Note: Eby.-Reuben Eby was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Feb. 13, 1860; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, May 4, 1934; aged 74 y. 2 m. 21 d. He was married to Mary Ann Brubacher in October, 1884. They resided on a farm in Peel Tp., for 37 years. Twelve years ago they moved to St. Jacobs. About a month ago he came to Elmira, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Orton Weber. He had been enjoying a fair degree of health until about ten days ago, when he took seriously ill, and died at St. Mary's Hospital. His wife and two children preceded him. He leaves 6 children (Angus of Drake, Sask.; Mrs. Oliver Lichty of Kitchener; Mrs. Alvin Biehn, Harvey, Clara of Guernsey, Sask.; Mrs. Orton Weber of Elmira); 20 grandchildren, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters (Absalom, Jesse, Noah, Jacob, Elias, Mrs. Enoch Burkhardt, Mrs. Noah Good, and Mrs. Emerson Morrison). A number of years ago he became a member of the Mennonite Church and remained a faithful member until his death. He was a loyal Christian, a devoted husband, and a faithful father. Funeral services and burial at the Elmira Mennonite Church, conducted by Oliver Snider and Moses M. Brubacher. "All is over, hands are folded On a quiet and peaceful breast; All is over; hands are folded, And dear father is at rest."
