Notes |
- 1850 Census Benton, Hocking, Ohio
1880 Census Dayton, Webster, Iowa as Johana DAWSON
- From John Bayless, from Leilani Cross:
Notes of Johnston Shick:
...she told us children of the day that father went to a nearby village and failed to return at eventide; of the weeklong search and sleepless vigil-hoping against hope- till the tragic May morn when father's lifeless body was taken from the river and laid at her feet. Small wonder that three men leaped between her and the cruel river as it gave up her beloved dead. Her eldest child was but ten years and we twins but nine months old that sad day....
